Direction Module

The module that turns your team into a screaming match about which way “left” is.

Confirmed on the official page: the game ships “puzzle modules”, the environments have hazards, and communication is explicitly the players' job — “wave, shout, throw bananas”. The direction module is one of the four module names consistently reported by players: a module with a panel where direction or orientation must be matched against the manual.

Why direction always goes wrong

  • “Left” is ambiguous. The deaf monkey's left, the blind monkey's left, and the bomb's left can all be different — agree a fixed frame and a fixed speaker.
  • The blind monkey cannot see the panel, so every direction has to travel through language twice (read → relay → act).
  • Rotating panels (reported by players, unconfirmed officially) would flip every later direction — one more reason to name positions, not directions.

Reporting template (our convention)

  1. Name a frame of reference in the lobby: this wiki's default is “bomb-left is the side with the fuse”.
  2. The deaf monkey reports which panel, then position on the panel — “top panel, first switch on the right”.
  3. The mute monkey reads the manual and returns the target direction in the same frame.
  4. The blind monkey orients by touch (panel edge, fuse side) and confirms before acting.

Not yet confirmed

The exact panel states, the manual's answer mapping, and whether rotation actually appears in the full release are not officially documented. Community reports are consistent about the module existing, but differ on specifics — so any “the manual says X” claim you find should be treated as unconfirmed until verified in-game.

Solver status: off. Direction helpers will only be enabled for verified mappings — until then, the reference page above is the deliverable.

FAQ

FAQ

Common questions about this topic.

Is there a direction module in BOMBANANA!?

Players consistently report one where orientation/panels must be matched against the manual. Exact behaviour is not yet officially documented.

Why does direction take so long in co-op?

Every direction crosses two communication hops (see → relay → act) and “left” has no fixed meaning. A pre-agreed frame of reference fixes most of it.

Who acts on the direction?

Usually the blind monkey, who can feel the panel but not see it — which is exactly why clear reporting matters.
